Another draw has been held within a day of the previous federal draw by the Canadian government under the Express Entry system, the online application management system of Canada launched in 2015.

On June 24, 2021, Canada’s IRCC – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada – invited another 6,000 candidates that were eligible for the Canadian Experience Class [CEC].

Those invited can now proceed to submitting their application for Canada permanent residence through the Express Entry system. Application is by invitation-only.

It is the highest-ranked, as per the maximum 1,200 Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score, that get invited in the draws held from time to time. A provincial nomination, under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] guarantees an ITA by IRCC.

Canada’s 67-point eligibility calculation and the CRS scores are different and not to be confused with each other.

The federal Express Entry draw schedule is not announced in advance.

The previous Express Entry draw was held on June 23, 2021.

Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score cut-off CRS 357

Invitations issued by date [June 24] 46,392 [in 2020] | 88,715 [in 2021]

As this was another one of the program-specific draws by IRCC – that has been the norm rather than the exception recently – only candidates from the CEC were eligible for this round of invitations.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada has been focusing on candidates that had a higher likelihood of already being within Canada as against those applying from overseas.

3 economic immigration programs are managed by the federal government of Canada through the Express Entry system. Express Entry programs are – 1.      The Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP] 2.      The Federal Trades Program [FSTP] 3.      The Canadian Experience Class [CEC].

The CEC is for skilled workers with previous Canada work experience – at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada within the 3 years before applying – that wish to take up Canada PR.

To be considered for the CEC, the individual must have gained their skilled work experience in Canada while in the country “under temporary resident status with authorization to work”.

A CEC candidate must also plan on living in Canada as a permanent resident outside Quebec.

Under the Canada-Quebec Accord, the province has a greater autonomy over the newcomers that it chooses to induct.

Quebec runs its own immigration programs.

With the latest IRCC draw, a total of 88,715 Invitations to Apply [ITAs] have been issued through the Express Entry so far in 2021. The Express Entry induction target for 2021 is that of 108,500. With 88,715 ITAs so far in 2021 – as against the 46,392 ITAs by the same time in 2020 – Canada remains well on track to meet, and probably even exceed, the Express Entry admissions target laid down as per Canada’s 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan.

Canada remains the most popular country for migrate overseas.
