China globalizing its market to attract foreigners

AmCham Shanghai’s Entrepreneurship Committee held an event on October 23 for discussing the entrepreneur visa for Shanghai – The Entrepreneurship Visa: Will It Work For You? .

Practical steps were discussed as to the process for obtaining the business start-up visa. First-hand information was also provided as to the incentives that work the best for attracting top foreign talent to Shanghai.

Known to be “the Voice of American Business” in China, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai was founded in 1915. The third American Chamber to be established outside the U.S., AmCham Shanghai currently has 3,000 members from about 1,500 companies.

A non-partisan and non-profit business organization, AmCham Shanghai has a commitment to ensuring free trade, unrestricted flow of information, private enterprise, and open markets.

China is looking to globalize its market. With China’s new foreign investment law coming into force in January 2020, it is expected that there will an increase in foreign access to the local markets in China.

As per an estimation, foreign companies could gain about 10% to 20% of the Chinese market.

Recently, China also announced new regulations for improving the existing business environment in China.

With the aim of making Shanghai a magnet for entrepreneurs and innovators, the city government in Shanghai has begun offering foreigners the facility to live in China while they set up a business in the country.

The recent event by AmCham Shanghai’s Entrepreneurship Committee was targeted at investors and entrepreneurs looking at business opportunities in China.
