Canada RNIP

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is specifically designed to widen the ambit of economic immigration to benefit smaller communities as well.

The RNIP will create pathways to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers that wish to work and live in any one of the 11 communities participating in the Pilot.

Once all the participating communities begin accepting applications and the Pilot becomes fully operational, employers in 11 communities from Manitoba, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan will be able to hire eligible foreign workers.

What are the communities participating in the RNIP?

Communities participating in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot include –

How can I apply under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot?

Basic steps for applying for Canadian permanent residency under RNIP include –

STEP 1: Checking eligibility. You must meet the requirements of the IRCC as well as the community concerned.

STEP 2: Securing a valid job offer from an employer belonging to any one of the communities participating in the Pilot.

STEP 3: Once you have a valid job offer with you, you will have to lodge your application for recommendation with the community.

Do keep in mind that you will be asked to submit supporting documents. Make sure that you provide only the copies of your documents. Keep the originals with you as they will be needed later for applying for Canada PR.

STEP 4: Once you have the recommendation from any community, you can apply for Canadian PR.

Key facts

  • About 2,750 principal applicants (with their families) can be approved for PR under RNIP.
  • Each community will have its own specific requirements for eligibility, job search process, as well as the application process for community recommendation.
  • Details will be made available on the official websites of the communities.
  • The Pilot will launch at different times in each of the communities.
  • All applicants under RNIP must be able to prove that they have an eligible job offer and meet all the requirements.
  • First step to getting PR through RNIP is to secure a valid job offer.
