CRS drops to 468 in latest Express Entry draw

The latest Express Entry draw [#170] was held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] on December 23, 2020 at 14:40:08 UTC. Another 5,000 Canada immigration hopefuls have received invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] required was 468, a drop of 1 point from the previous Express Entry draw on December 9, 2020.

As per IRCC, “candidates from all Express Entry programs were eligible for this round of invitations”. Hence, the draw included candidates under the following –

Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP] Federal Skilled Trades People [FSTP] Canadian Experience Class [CEC] Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] Express Entry linked streams only

As on December 21, 2020, there were a total of 147,487 profiles in the Express Entry pool. Of these, while 479 were in the CRS 601-1200 range, a majority – 47,897 – were in the CRS 351-400 range.

No direct applications are accepted for Canadian permanent residence. A prior invitation by IRCC will be required for applying for Canada PR through Express Entry.

A PNP nomination gets an Express Entry profile 600 CRS points, thereby guaranteeing an invitation by IRCC in the next Express Entry draw. The PNP has nearly 80 immigration pathways or ‘streams’, many of them linked with the federal Express Entry system.

The December 23 Express Entry draw had a tie-breaking rule applied of June 4, 2020 at 13:39:44 UTC. The tie-breaking rule is only applicable to profiles that have the minimum CRS required. In any Express Entry draw that has a tie-breaking rule, invitations are issued to profiles with the minimum CRS required and submitted to the pool before the date and time specified.

With the latest Express Entry draw – the 37th Express Entry draw in 2020 – a total of 107,350 ITAs have been issued so far this year.
