The IEC - International Experience Canada program offers overseas youth the opportunity to travel and work in Canada. Accredited organizations offer support and guidance to individuals who intend to reside and work overseas in Canada. This is through a Canada Work Visa under the IEC program.
The Government of Canada authorizes private firms to offer these services. These are helpful for those who require additional assistance. It is for preparing their application for Work Visa and settling in Canada.
The participation of applicants from an IEC participating nation having an employer-specific Accredited Organization is not included in that nation’s quota. This implies that an Accredited Organization can still assist you even if your nation has exceeded its quota for IEC Work Permits.
However, it must be noted that candidates intending to apply through an Accredited Organization are required to fulfil all the eligibility requirements for IEC. Their applications are also subject to usual processing times, as quoted by the CIC News.
An Accredited Organization can assist you in participating in the IEC program even if your nation is not listed among the participating nations. They can avail their individual private quota of Work Visas for Canada.
The list of Accredited Organizations was modified by Canada on 4 December 2018. It also added details regarding these agencies receiving applications from specific nationals. This now includes India, Uganda, Pakistan, Singapore, Iceland, Ecuador, China, Brazil, and the US.
All the Accredited Organizations offer services from and to territories and countries that have an YMA - Youth Mobility Agreement with Canada. There are conditions that must be fulfilled by applicants from nations participating in IEC.
The Accredited Organizations have been given nomination quotas for Work Visa categories in some cases. It is for those streams that are not a part of the YMAs. The maximum validity period for participation in these cases is 24 months.
Canada Work Visas are offered under the IEC program through 3 categories:
• International Co-Op
• Young Professionals
• Working Holiday
The 9 Accredited Organizations that offer services to applicants under specific IEC streams are:
• University of New Brunswick
• University of British Columbia
• Swap Working Holidays
• Stepwest
• Memorial University of Newfoundland
• International Rural Exchange
• IAESTE
• Go International Work & Travel Providers
• AIESEC Canada
