The third and latest Express Entry draw of 2020 was conducted on 5th February. 3,500 candidates were invited to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency.

The minimum required CRS score in the latest draw was 472, one point higher than the last draw held on 22nd January.

The Express Entry Program manages the candidate pool for all three major economic migration programs of Canada-FSWP, FSTP and CEC. Eligible candidates receive a score based on various parameters like age, education, education in Canada, work experience, language skills etc.

A job offer is not needed to apply under the Express Entry Program. However, having one gives you additional points.

Candidates with the highest CRS score are invited to apply for Canadian PR through regular draws conducted from the Express Entry Pool.

The processing time for a Permanent Residence Visa through the Express Entry Program is 6 months.

Including the latest draw, the number of invitations issued by Canada reached 10,300 for 2020.

Canada had increased the admission target for 2020 to 85,800 and for 2021 to 88,800. The admission target for the Provincial Nominee Programs, a part of which is aligned with the Express Entry Program, has also been increased to 67,800 for 2020 and 71,300 for 2021.

Nine Canadian provinces and territories have migration streams aligned with the Federal Express Entry Program. These streams typically have a lower or no CRS requirement at all. Candidates who obtain a provincial nomination are given 600 more points on their CRS score in the Express Entry Pool.

The 5th February draw was slightly larger than the last draw which invited 3,400 candidates. The cut-off score in the previous draw was 471.

The tie-break date and time used in the 5th February draw was 30th January 2020 at 7:36:26 UTC. This means that all candidates scoring 472 or more received an invitation to apply for Canadian PR.
