Applying to Canadian permanent residence, through the Express Entry system, is by invitation-only. It is the highly-ranked candidates that are issued invitations in the IRCC draws held from time to time. The ranking of candidates in the Express Entry pool is based on the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS], allotted out of a maximum of 1,200 points. As the latest Express Entry draw was PNP-only, the minimum CRS requirement was that of 731 points.
A PNP nomination in itself fetches 600 CRS points for an Express Entry candidate. |
With a tie-breaking rule applied, IRCC gives precedence to profiles created at an earlier date as compared to those entered into the Express Entry pool later. In the present Express Entry Draw #189, those with at least a CRS score of 713 and with a PNP nomination received an Invitation to Apply [ITA] from IRCC, provided they had created their profile before the date and time of the tie-breaking rule applied.
With the latest IRCC draw, a total of 68,817 have been invited in the 19 draws held so far in 2021.
Permanent residence applications submitted through the Express Entry have a standard processing time of within 6 months.
