IRCC aims to resume FSWP and CEC invitations
Since September 2021, IRCC held only PNP draws in order to meet the immigration target and reduce the backlog applications. Hence the PGWP applications were on hold. The resumption of these draws is expected to start from July 6 as per the recent press release. Candidates can apply for PGWP only once and after that they have to apply for an open work permit.

Private Quebec college graduates no longer eligible for PGWP starting September 2023
International student graduates who have pursued the eligible full-time programs have the opportunity to apply for an open work permit. The validity of this work permit is three years. The new policy will permit the PGWP holders to apply for a new open work permit whose validity will be 18 months.
No details are available regarding the process of applying for this new open work permit. The current PGWP holders whose permit will expire may either have to apply for a new work permit, leave their jobs, and may also have to leave Canada.
Each year, permanent resident status is being given to many PGWP holders. These people are well-acquainted with the labour market of Canada through their work experience and Canadian study. The government has stated that the new policy will provide benefits to more than 50,000 people.
