According to Schengen News report, the Finnish government registered over 12,000 work permits in the first nine months of 2024. The number of work-based residence permit applications has continued to increase in comparison to the last 5 years.
The Finnish Immigration Service received 12,498 applications for work-based residence permits. The majority of applicants were from Thailand, the Philippines, India, China, and Vietnam.

The demand for Finland Residence Permit applications increased among international students in the country. Around 11,749 international students applied for the Finland Residence Permit in the first nine months of 2024, with a 9% increase.
Most residence permit applications were from Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Indian students willing to study in Finland. Residence permit applications received from international students are to be processed within an average of nine days.
