First Express Entry Draw of the year issued 1,510 ITAs to candidates

IRCC held the first Express Entry Draw of the year and issued 1,510 invitations to apply (ITAs) for candidates in general draw with a minimum CRS score requirement of 546.

 

General draw consists of candidates from all Express Entry administered programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). No occupations or other human capital attributes are targeted.

Process of Express Entry Draw in issuing invitations to candidates

 

Candidates are ranked according to their human capital traits using the Comprehensive Ranking System. This includes factors such as age, occupation, work experience, education, and language proficiency. Candidates are ranked against one another after each attribute is given a score.

ITAs may also be awarded to Express Entry candidates in any of the three programmes in a category-based selection draw that focuses on a particular attribute. This type includes six categories which are Healthcare, STEM, Trade, Transportation, Agriculture and Agri-food, and fluency in French.

The candidates with the highest CRS score are most likely to receive an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw, regardless of the program or kind of draw.

Canada’s Immigration levels plan 2024 – 2026

According to the Immigration Levels Plan 2024 – 2026, 110,000 new permanent residents will be admitted to Canada via Express Entry in 2024.

 

This is a surge from the 82,880 targeted Express Entry candidates in 2023. However, the high target does not necessarily mean that every applicant invited in 2024 will be accepted before the year ends. Some will arrive in 2025, particularly those who are invited later in the year.
