FSSWS candidates get PR Visa ITAs from Ontario

Ontario has offered PR Visa invites to French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream candidates in Express Entry pool. They can now submit applications for Provincial Nomination from Ontario. The 61 ITAs were offered on 7 February.

The FSSWS permits Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program to choose candidates in the Express Entry pool who speak French. This is in the Canadian Experience Class or Federal Skilled Worker Class. They are required to fulfil other criteria that include qualified skilled work experience and strong proficiency in the English language.

The Express Entry program is the chief source of skilled overseas immigrants for Canada. It manages the pool of candidates for the 3 economic immigration streams. These are the Skilled Trades Class Federal, Skilled Worker Class Federal, and Experience Class Canada.

Qualified candidates in the pool are offered a score based on diverse factors. These include Proficiency in French or English, Skilled work experience, Education and Age. A fixed number of candidates with the highest ranking are offered ITAs for PR Visa through regular draws.

Candidates in Express Entry who receive a nomination from a province get 600 extra points. This effectively assures an ITA for Canada PR Visa.

The FSSWS has 2 major advantages for candidates in Express Entry. One is that it does not mandate a job offer. The other is that it does not mandate a minimum CRS score for qualifying, as quoted by the CIC News.

Nevertheless, candidates are required to speak, write, read, and understand French at CLB 7 (Canadian Language Benchmark). They must also have CLB 6 in all these 4 abilities in English.

Ontario has so far offered 189 ITAs for PR Visa in 2019. This is through the French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream.
