Skilled worker visas in Germany

According to recent reports by Schengen Visa News, the processing times for skilled worker visas in Germany have been reduced for foreign skilled workers from India. The processing time has been brought down to 2 weeks instead of 9 months.

The German foreign minister stated that Germany plans to reduce the processing time for 400,000 people willing to migrate to Germany for employment purposes. The country urgently needs skilled foreign workers to meet the current labor market requirements and is looking forward to welcoming skilled labor from Delhi, India.

Why are the German visa processing times reduced?

Germany has reduced visa processing to address labor market demand and ensure smooth and faster immigration for skilled workers, especially from India. Processing time is reduced for visas catering to training programs, conferences, and Indian forms willing to invest in Germany.

Around 570,000 job vacancies were reported in Germany and the country is willing to recruit talented foreign workers who would help boost the German economy. The Federal Foreign Office reported that around 80,000 visas were issued to employees between January and June 2024, among which 40,000 visas were issued to skilled workers only.
