Draws – both Express Entry as well as provincial – continue to be held despite COVID-19 measures in place in Canada. IRCC is still accepting and processing Canada PR applications. Even with coronavirus special measures, 2020 has started off as a big year for Express Entry.
In Express Entry Draw #142 held on April 9, a total of 3,294 immigration candidates were invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Another draw was also held in the same day earlier.
The present draw inviting 3,294 saw the minimum CRS cut-off requirement to be 464. This is the lowest CRS score requirement in any draw since October 2019.
Express Entry Draw #142 was another of the program-specific draws from the Express Entry pool. The draw was specifically targeted at candidates under the Canadian Experience Class.
This the fourth consecutive program-specific draws to be held from the Express Entry pool of immigration candidates. This is also the second draw in less than a month that has specifically targeted candidates in the Canadian Experience Class.
One year of work experience in Canada is among the different criteria that foreign nationals are required to fulfil in order to be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class.
A tie-break was applied in this draw. The Tie-break applied by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] in the present draw was that of January 4, 2020 at 12:16:45 UTC.
With the 3,294 ITAs issued in Express Entry Draw #142, the total number of immigration candidates to have received an invitation to apply for Canada PR in 2020 has come to 26,500.
As per the 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada plans on welcoming 341,000 in 2019. Another 351,000 will be admitted in 2021, followed by 361,000 in the year 2022.
Moreover, the Plan has scope for further increasing the total number of immigrants to be inducted in 2022 to as many as 390,000.
