The USCIS has announced the implementation of a new e-registration process for the H1B Visa for the 2021 fiscal year. Organizations interested in applying for the H1B Visa for the upcoming year will now need to complete the online registration. They will also need to pay a processing fee of $10.
The US will start accepting H1B Visa applications for the fiscal year 2021 from 1st April 2020.
According to the USCIS, the new electronic registration process will dramatically reduce paperwork and data exchange. This will help streamline the overall process and help petitioning employers save time and money.
Under the new process, employers interested in applying for the H1B Visa will need to complete an online registration process. During the registration process, employers or their authorized representatives will need to enter basic information regarding the beneficiary and the company.
The initial registration process will start from 1st March to 20th March 2020. The H1B lottery may also be based on these electronic registrations. Only those whose registrations are selected would be able to file cap-subject H1B Visa petitions.
Streamlining the H1B process will make it more efficient and cost-effective. Only those who are selected will now need to submit a full H1B petition, said Mr Mark Koumans, Deputy Director of the USCIS.
Mr Koumans also said that USCIS has also completed a pilot testing phase. The new process will help modernize the USCIS from a paper-based agency to an online agency.
As the initial registration period nears, the USCIS will post step-by-step information regarding the registration process on its official website. The website will also have important details regarding the dates and timelines.
