Indians aspiring for the US Green Card through the EB-5 Visas must apply at the earliest. This is because the wait times for Indian applicants may extend for 7 years in 2019 from 3 years now.
Y-Axis Immigration Expert Usha Rajesh has said that the wait times are increasing steadily. Applicants filing petitions at the end of 2019 may have to wait for 7 years to get the PR. Thus, it is advisable that applicants must plan in advance, added Ms. Rajesh.
Ms. Rajesh said that in markets such as China the applicants begin to plan for EB-5 Visas as soon as the child becomes 10 years old. It is to ensure that the process gets completed prior to immigrating to the US for higher studies, said the Immigration Expert.
The Immigration Expert further elaborated that Indian applicants must also ensure transparency regarding the source of funds. It is very crucial for them. Around 20 to 30% of Indian applications are denied. The primary reason is the ambiguity regarding the disclosure on the sources of funds, said Ms. Rajesh.
Individual application for an EB-5 Visa runs around a thousand pages, as quoted by the Money Control. It is reviewed by a legal expert. The application must detail the exact source of the funds. Additionally, background checks are also held. This is to ensure that the applicants seeking to immigrate to the US are not doing so for illegal purposes.
Before, there was a provision wherein the authorities could seek extra evidence if any discrepancies were found. However, now the proposal is rejected and the applicant has to apply again.
