Australia ACT State nomination will reopen for immigrants from 29 November 2018. It will have a new process for determination of nominated applicants. The current allocation of the ACT for 2018-19 is 800 nominations.
The PR pathway program will remain focused on occupations listed as ‘In-demand’. It will assess a range of factors that aid triumphant settlement and contribution to the economy of the ACT. This includes earlier residence and other ties to ACT, having a job offer in the ACT and English proficiency.
Skilled Visa nomination by Australia ACT State permits your dream of obtaining the Australian PR. This is even if your occupation is not listed on the general Australian List of Skilled Occupations. The same is true even if you are short of 5 points of the 60 to receive an invite from DIBP. Applicants are also not required to possess close ties in the State to obtain a nomination. This includes job offer, employer support, blood relatives etc, as quoted by the SBS.
Australia ACT has its individual list of occupations. This is updated yearly, sometimes twice every year. It depends on the demands of the employment market. The List was updated last on 5 July 2017. The Skilled Migration Program was opened by the ACT at the beginning of August. It closed within a couple of days on August 23.
The nomination by ACT offers 5 extra points to the overall DHA score of the applicants. Once they have 60 points, they receive an invite to Apply for Australia PR. This is through the Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 Visa of the DHA - Home Affairs Department.
The immigrants who obtain PR must reside and work for 2 years in Canberra upon arrival to Australia. Immigrant applicants can apply for ACT nomination if their occupation is open. Also, the ACT must be accepting applications at the time of application by immigrants.
