It happened for the first time that number of Indian students surpassed China to become the largest group of foreign aspirants to study in UK. Over the past few years, the number of Indian students in UK rose by 273 percent as per the statistics.
The Office for National Statistics revealed that in the Skilled Worker Visa category, Indians received 56,042 visas in 2021. There is also a rise of 36 percent Skilled Worker Health and Care visa to invite medical professionals.
The number of student visas granted to the main applicants was 127,731 in September 2022. There was an increase of 93,470 in comparison to 34,261 in 2019. The second country is China to which 116,476 UK study visas were granted by the end of September 2022.

The UK Graduate Route visa was introduced in 2021 which allowed international students to stay and work in UK after completing their degree course. Indians received 41 percent of the total number of Graduate Route visas.

The UK High Potential Individual visa was introduced in May 2022 to invite bright candidates who studied in the top universities all over the globe. Candidates can apply for this visa to work in UK. Indian nationals were granted 14 percent of the visas.
The statistics also reveals that the number of students of India, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Bangladesh in the UK rose by three times in comparison to 2019. The net immigration to UK in June 2021 was 173,000 in June 2022, it was 504,000.
