India would be setting up its first overseas branch of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in UAE. It will be under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed on February 18, 2022.
This is the first branch set up abroad, IIT Dubai, UAE.
IITs of India
IITs are one of the premier institutions of India, along with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Currently, there are 23 IITs and offer Bachelors in Technology to Doctoral programs.
The first IIT was set up in 1950 in Kharagpur, West Bengal. Some of the renowned IITs in India are IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Madras.
Admissions in IIT are done by Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Advanced, and top-ranking JEE Mains. The students who qualify are eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced examination. If they clear the JEE Advanced exams, they are given the option to choose their streams and the branch of IIT they want to study in.

India-UAE CEPA Pact
The joint India-UAE CEPA statement says, "Confirming the historical relations between the two countries and realizing the need to establish world-class institutions that encourage and support innovation and technological progress, the leaders agreed to establish an Indian Institute of Technology in the United Arab Emirates."
The joint pact gives importance to the future course of bilateral relations and the changing work needs. The deal also emphasized enhancing the efforts of skill-enhancing, so they have better alignment with the market needs.
Environmental mission in India-UAE CEPA Pact
The pact also mentions joint efforts by both countries to support each other's mission in clean energy. They would be establishing joint hydrogen tasks to increase the production of green hydrogen.
