Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s representative has informed at a recent conference of the Canadian Bar Association –Immigration section that IRCC could conduct one more round for applicants of overseas Parent-Grandparent visa sponsor program. This will give one more chance to the applicants in Canada to submit an application for this program and unite with their overseas family members.
The second draw for this Parent-Grandparent sponsor program could be held by the IRCC in the upcoming months, as quoted by CIC News.
It has also been confirmed by the representative of the IRCC that so far just 700 applications had been submitted by prospective invited sponsors and 15% of them were incomplete. In case the IRCC does not receive the ten thousand applications for sponsorship within the deadline, then additional invitations will be rolled out from the list of submissions for interest to sponsor added the spokesperson of the IRCC.
Earlier IRCC had clarified that applicants who did not receive the invitation from the first round of the draw could apply again in 2018. On the other hand, these individuals now have one more chance as IRCC has stated that it will invite an additional number of sponsors from the list of already submitted interest to sponsor if the received applications fall short of the target for 2017.
Regarding the schedule of the next draw for the applicants of overseas Parent-Grandparent sponsor program the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s representative said that it could be likely held in August or September 2017 depending upon the shortfall for the threshold of 10,000 sponsors.
