The Department of Trade and Employment (DETE) in Ireland has granted over 30,000 employment permits in 2024. Around 3,400 permits were issued to agriculture workers between January and November 2024, the maximum work permits being issued in February.
The DETE granted around 11,694 permits was issued to health and care workers. About 9.4% of the total employment permits were issued to foreign workers in agriculture, fishing, and forestry, while 32% of work permits were granted to health and care workers in Ireland. The average annual salary for meat processing and horticulture workers is likely to increase to €32,000 from €30,000 in January 2025.

According to recent data by DETE, Indians and Brazilians topped the list of nationalities who received Irish Work permits in 2024. The top ten nationalities that were granted the maximum number of Irish Work Permits in 2024 are listed in the table below:
