Ireland Visa and work permit criterions for citizens outside EU must be made easier said Neale Richmond the Dublin Senator. He is the Senator for the Christian democratic and liberal-conservative political party Fine Gael. Richmond has urged that the list of occupations for which overseas workers are eligible must be expanded.
The Dublin Senator argued that several professions that are currently excluded from the list are in high demand. There is huge demand of workers for these jobs owing to acute skill shortages. Thus Ireland Visa and work permit criterions for Non-EU citizens must be made easier, elaborated Richmond.
Neale Richmond implied that the existing list for shortage occupations in Ireland is highly restricted. On the other hand, regions across the nation are facing acute scarcity of workers. He also released a letter addressed to the Ireland government in this regard, as quoted by the Workpermit.
The letter elaborates that the existing lists are obviously focusing on highly paid and highly skilled occupations that must be filled. Nevertheless, it is apparent that several other occupations have been left out. Occupations that have comparatively lower wages must also be supplemented to this list. This will enable businesses to offer high service levels at competitive prices, explained the Senator.
The Dublin Senator made specific reference to the shortage of workers in the hospitality industry in Ireland. He contended that firms are finding it extremely tough to hire chefs who are trained and workers who are experienced. On the other hand, Richmond claimed that cleaning staff, farm workers, nursing personnel and construction workers are scarce throughout Ireland.
It has been learned that the Department of immigration in Ireland is reviewing its list for shortage occupations. This is with respect to job profiles for which the workers outside the EU can apply.
