Western Australia now has a new route to Permanent Residency for international students. It has recently released the new Graduate Occupation List (GOL). This new graduate stream is available for WA State Nomination. This stream is available for both the Subclass 190 and the Subclass 489 visas.
International students can now apply for a PR under the graduate stream if:
PhD and Masters Graduates would be able to nominate all occupations on the GOL. Bachelors and higher degree graduates, however, would only be able to nominate a few occupations on the GOL.
International students need to prove their English proficiency by taking any one of the below tests:
Passport holders of the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland are exempted from the English test.
The requirement for work experience is waived off for PhD and Masters graduates of WA. Other degree holders would need to provide proof of work experience. They should have at least 1 year of Australian work experience or 3 years of overseas work experience. The work experience should be in the nominated occupation or a closely related occupation. Also, the work experience should have been gained in the recent 10 years.
It is mandatory for all applicants to have a full-time offer of employment from WA. It should be in a nominated occupation or a closely related one, as quoted by the SBS.
Applicants who want to apply for Subclass 489 must have a contract of employment from a regional area in WA.
All eligible applicants must show proof of having sufficient funds. You should have at least AUD 20,000 for the primary applicant. If you want to include family in your visa application, the fund requirement would be higher.
