US Work Visas can be categorized under 3 main groups: Immigrant Visas, Non-immigrant Visas, and Provisional Visas for Business Visitor.

Non-immigrant Visas

You are likely to fall under this category of US Work Visas if you plan to work for a restricted period and do not intend to settle lastingly. It is divided into sub-categories that include:

 H-1B Specialty occupations

You can apply under specialty employment subclass if you work in a specialized area. It is also applicable if you intend to become a development project worker or researcher for the Department of Defense.

L-1A Intra-company transfers

An employer in the US can relocate an Executive or Manager from one of its overseas offices to the US through this visa for 3 years. This subclass can also be used by an overseas firm but the visa validity will be for only 12 months initially.

O-1 Astonishing ability or accomplishment

If you have achieved a national or overseas appreciation for your ability, you can apply under this stream. It could be on TV, Motion Pictures, Athletics, Business, Education, Arts, and Sciences.

E-1 Treaty traders

This category of US Work Visas permits the individual and specific employees to arrive at the US for engaging in overseas trade.

J-1 Exchange visitors

It permits you to participate or work in an official program for training, researching, or teaching.

Immigrant visas

You will require an Immigrant Visa if you intend to work and live permanently in the US. It has 2 streams:

Green Card

It is also known as PR Card and is the most sought-after US Visa. In various cases, you can apply yourself while generally; you need someone to sponsor you for Green Card.

Immigrants based on Employment

You can apply for a visa based on Employment if you possess a prospective job offer from an employer in the US. There are 5 categories of preferences under this stream:

• E1 – Priority employees
• E2 – Professionals with higher degrees and persons of extraordinary talents
• E3 – Skilled personnel, professionals and unskillful workers
• E4 – Definite unique immigrants
• E5 – Migrant investors

Temporary visitors for Business Visas

If you intend to work in the US for just 6 months, you may only require a Provisional Visa.
