The federal government of Canada has held another round of invitations under the Express Entry System, managed through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC].
On July 21, 2021, IRCC has invited – in Express Entry Draw #197 – a total of 462 Canada immigration hopefuls, with a provincial nomination, to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Launched in 2015, the Express Entry system is an online system used by IRCC for managing applications for Canada PR from skilled workers.
The previous Express Entry draw was held on July 8, 2021.

Those invited now have 60 days for applying to IRCC. As per IRCC, “If you receive an invitation to apply on or after June 29, 2021, you must submit your application for permanent residence within 60 days.”
While the application deadline had previously been extended to 90 days due to service limitations and disruptions globally in view of COVID-19, IRCC has now reverted to the 60-day deadline.
IRCC has also updated the funds requirement for Express Entry 2021.

No all-program draws have been held so far in 2021. Since March 2020, Canada has been focusing on candidates that were more likely to already be within Canada.
Candidates, that is, eligible for either the CEC [with their recent previous experience of Canada] or the PNP [nominated by a provincial or territorial government under the PNP of Canada.
Fetching 600 CRS points in itself, a PNP nomination guarantees an invitation by IRCC in a subsequent draw to be held.
By CRS is implied the 1,200-point ranking system used by IRCC – the Comprehensive Ranking System – used for ranking Express Entry profiles against one another. It is the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles that are invited to submit their applications for permanent residence in Canada. Not all IRCC Express Entry candidates receive invitations. As on July 19, 2021, there were 478 profiles in the Express Entry pool of IRCC with their CRS scores in the range of 601 to 1,200. The total number of profiles, however, was 167,244. |
With the latest federal draw – the 27th IRCC draw to be held in 2021 – a total of 94,304 have received invitations to apply for Canada PR so far this year.
The Express Entry target for 2021 is that of 108,500 as per the 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan.
