Latest MPNP draw in Canada issues 354 invitations

The province of Manitoba conducted its latest MPNP draw on the 5^th of July. The draw invited 354 skilled workers and international graduates. 

The invitations issued by the MPNP (Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program) are called LAAs (Letters of Advice to Apply). In the 5^th July draw, LAAs were issued under the following sub-categories: 

• Skilled Workers Overseas 
• Skilled Workers in Manitoba 

• International Education 

Manitoba nominates international graduates and foreign workers for Canadian PR through the MPNP. In fact, the MPNP is the first provincial nominee program to be launched in Canada. 2018 saw the highest number of invitations being issued through the MPNP. A majority of these invitations were issued to Skilled Workers in both the skilled worker categories. 

Here is a category-wise breakdown of the number of LAAs issued in the 5^th July draw: 

• Skilled Workers Overseas: 248 
• Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 85 

• International Education: 21 

Out of these, 91 invitations were issued to candidates from the Federal Express Entry pool, as per CIC News. Candidates who successfully get a provincial nomination get another 600 points on their CRS score. 

Express Entry candidates must submit a separate EOI (Expression of Interest) to apply under the MPNP. Eligible candidates should meet the MPNP requirements. This includes having relevant work experience of at least 6 months in any occupation on the in-demand list of Manitoba. 

The MPNP EOI requires candidates to fill in details regarding their age, education, work experience, connection to Manitoba etc. Based on all these details, each candidate is awarded a score based on the Manitoba points system. 

Candidates who score the highest points receive LAAs through regular MPNP draws. 

Below is the category-wise breakdown of the scores in the 5^th July draw: 

• Skilled Workers Overseas: 594 
• Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 565 
• Strategic Recruitment Initiative (Skilled Workers Overseas): 619 

With this draw, the number of invitations issued by Manitoba has reached 5,333 in 2019.
