Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows the provinces and territories in Canada to select immigration candidates who fulfill their labor market needs.
The Canadian maritime province (PEI) operates the 'PEI PNP' (the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program) by following all the guidelines from Canadian Federal Government.
The next Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program draw is expected on August 19, 2021.
PEI PNP Express Entry Category
The PEI PNP Express Entry Category is known as an enhanced PNP because it is associated with the federal government’s Express Entry system. To get qualified in this stream, candidates need to have a profile in the system.
Express Entry is like an immigration application manager which handles the applications for three economic-class immigration programs:
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) gives a score for eligible candidates based on their age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English or French.
Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination will get an additional 600 points to their CRS. These candidates are also ensured with ITA (Invitation to Apply) for permanent residence followed by an Express Entry draw.
The Express Entry candidates have to create an EOI (Expression of Interest) profile with PEI PNP to qualify for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island (PEI).
The PEI has a unique points grid system, through which the EOI profiles are awarded with points. The highest-scoring applicants are eligible to apply through monthly draws.
The highest-scoring candidates are then invited to apply through monthly draws.
Labor Impact Category
The Labor Impact Category is for foreign individuals with a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island and should have support from their employer.
The Labor Impact Category of PEI is classified into three different streams:
Candidates in any of these streams should submit an Expression of Interest to get qualified for a provincial nomination in the Labor Impact Category.
Business Impact Category
Candidates in Business Impact Category should meet the minimum provincial score requirement in order to process their applications. The score is not fixed, and it varies with each draw in PEI PNP.
The invitations sent in the latest (July 15, 2021) draw by PEI were issued under the Work Permit Stream and are for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to start or own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
