Updated January 17 2024

In its latest provincial draw on December 22, 2020, British Columbia has invited another 230 Canada immigration hopefuls to apply for a provincial nomination through the BC Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP].

The previous BC PNP draw was on December 15, 2020.

Those successful in securing a PNP nomination get one step closer to applying for Canada permanent residence.

An Express Entry candidate that is a provincial nominee is allotted an additional 600 CRS points. By ‘CRS’ is implied the Comprehensive Ranking System used for ranking the profiles in the Express Entry pool.

It is the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles that are issued invitations to apply in the federal Express Entry draws that are held.

Overview of the December 22 BC PNP draw

Invitations issued through the categories of Skills Immigration [SI] and Express Entry BC [EEBC].

Category Minimum Score
EEBC – Skilled Worker 99
EEBC – International Graduate 99
SI – Skilled Worker 95
SI – International Graduate 95
SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 77

Note. The minimum score here is the score allotted on registration under the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS].

For an Express Entry candidate, acquiring Canadian PR through a PNP nomination involves a 2-step process – [1] Securing a nomination with any of the provincial or territorial [PT] governments that are a part of the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. [2] Applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] for permanent residence. An individual cannot apply for permanent residence unless invited by IRCC to do the same.

As per the BC PNP, certain occupations were excluded from the latest draw due to the “impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BC businesses”.
