In Express Entry Draw #143 held on April 15, Canada has invited 118 with provincial nominations. The invited candidates were required to have a minimum CRS score of 808.
By CRS is implied Comprehensive Ranking System. It is the system by which profiles in the Express Entry pool are ranked against each other. The highest-ranking profiles are sent invitations in the draws that are held. A provincial nomination leads to an additional 600 CRS points.
As the draw had a minimum CRS of 808 and a provincial nomination adds 600, the candidates had a CRS of 208 before they got the nomination.
With this latest draw on April 15, Canada has invited a total of 26,618 Express Entry candidates so far in 2020.
A tie-break was used in this draw. All candidates with CRS 808 and above that had submitted their profiles before March 18, 2020 at 10:30:55 UTC were sent an Invitation to Apply [ITA] in this invitation round.
Form March 18, Canada has imposed travel restrictions as party of COVID-19 special measures. Nevertheless, those who had previously made commitments to settle and study in Canada are exempt from the travel restrictions.
Temporary Foreign Workers [TFW] are also exempt from the travel ban in Canada. Moreover, in an attempt to keep the food supply chain up and running, Canada has expedited the hiring process for immigrants in 10 occupations in trucking, agri-foods and agriculture.
While earlier draws were usually held once in a fortnight, with the coronavirus special measures, more program-specific draws have been held recently. A rare 2 draws were held in the same day on April 9. While Express Entry Draw #141 was PNP-specific inviting 606, Express Entry Draw #142 held later in the day invited 3,294 Canadian Experience Class [CEC] candidates.
Manitoba also held a draw on April 9 inviting 153 candidates for applying for a provincial nomination for Canada PR.
