Online payment for Maldives Work Visa fees has been launched by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority. The aim of the tax authority is offering online all payment services and collection. This was announced by Yazeedh Mohamed the Commissioner General of Taxations at the launching ceremony.
More than 131,000 individuals paid around US$19 Million at the collection centres of MIRA last year. Mohamed Maleeh Jamal Minister for Science and Technology said that the Government is working towards creating an online portal Gov Mv. It will be a 1-stop website for services offered by the Government, he added.
Around 200 to 150 individuals line up at MIRA on a daily basis. This is for payment of Maldives Work Visa fees. It takes around 1 hour for serving each customer. This costs MIRA around 3.6 million MVR annually, as quoted by the Maldives Independent.
Ibrahim Mohamed Solih the President of Maldives also wishes to launch another website. This is with all details about the inhabited islands for promoting local tourism.
Overseas immigrants who plan to work in the Maldives must apply for a job. They must get approval from a firm in the Maldives for the job. If the firm wants to hire you, it will submit documents to get the Maldives Work Visa. This is from the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
You can arrive at the Maldives once you get Employment Approval. Resident Visa will be offered to you on arrival. It must be noted that you must not enter with a Tourist Visa. If you do so, it cannot be cancelled and changed to a Resident Visa. You will have to exit and arrive again.
