In the latest Expression of Interest [EOI] Draw #90 held on May 21, Manitoba Immigration has invited 99 candidates to apply for being provincially nominated for Canada permanent residence. Of the Letters of Advice to Apply [LAAs] that were sent, 9 went to those with a valid profile in the Express Entry System.

With this latest draw, a total of 2,030 invitations have been issued by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program [MPNP] in 2020 so far.

Invitations issued in the May 21 draw went to candidates under the streams of International Education, Skilled Workers Overseas, and Skilled Workers in Manitoba.

Based on the needs of Manitoba employers, the MPNP for Skilled Workers is locally driven. Internationally trained and experienced skilled workers with skills in demand in the local labour market are selected by the MPNP. These are then nominated by the MPNP for receiving Canada PR visas for settling and working in Manitoba province.

The MPNP for Skilled Workers Overseas nominates those immigration candidates that demonstrate an established connection to Manitoba through either

  • Receiving an invitation directly by the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative,
  • Prior education or work experience in Manitoba, or
  • The support of family members or friends in Manitoba.

In this draw, EOIs from Skilled Worker Overseas candidates have not been considered unless directly invited by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

The MPNP for Skilled Workers in Manitoba invites those with a strong connection to the province through ongoing employment as well as the required skills, work experience, training, education, and official language proficiency to make an “immediate and ongoing contribution to the Manitoba economy” in general.

The International Education Stream [IES] provides international students – graduated in Manitoba as well as meeting the requirements of the industry – faster pathways to being provincially nominated to apply for Canada PR.

The IES has 3 pathways –

  • International Student Entrepreneur Pilot
  • Graduate Internship Pathway
  • Career Employment Pathway

International students graduating from another province in Canada, though not eligible for the IES, might be eligible under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream of the MPNP.
