The median entry wages for immigrants admitted in 2020 surpassed previous levels with a remarkable 21.6% increase making the median entry wage to $37,700 which is the highest since the past years.
The median entry wage for women admitted in 2020 increased to 27.1% and for men it increased by 18.5%. This shift shows that the entry wage for women increased more than that of men.

Pre-admission experience in Canada including work or study experience can facilitate the entry of immigrants into Canadian society in a number of ways. Work related pre-admission experience is crucial for immigrants that allows them to have highest entry pay in Canada.
Newcomers with pre-admission work experience had the highest median entry level income. Immigrants with both work and study permits prior to admission also had the highest median entry level income.
Furthermore, the median entry salaries of newly admitted immigrants, regardless of their pre-admission experience, were greater than pre-pandemic levels.

The economic main applicants had the highest median entry wage year after year, while the refugees had the lowest median entry wage. Among the three recent admission groups, the economic primary applicants accepted in 2020 had the highest median entry wage of in 2021, indicating increase in admission cohort compared to previous years. Similarly, spouses and dependents of economic immigrants who were accepted in 2020 had a median entry income greater than that of their counterparts.

The median entry wages of immigrants admitted in 2011 remained same at $37,500 in 2019 and 2020 and increased by $41,100 in 2021.
Immigrants admitted in 2020 witnessed increase in median wages in 2021, regardless of their admission category or pre-admission experience. Immigrants who had prior work experience prior admission were least affected by any severe economic conditions.
The number of new immigrants filing taxes in 2020 in Canada was the weakest in 10 years due to increase in border restrictions. This shows that immigrants with pre-admission experience now constitute to majority of the group for the first time in the nation's history.
A greater percentage of tax fillers had prior Canadian residency than those who did not have prior residency. Some tax fillers had both work permit and study permit, and some had asylum claims and they demonstrated a strong correlation with exceptional performance among immigrants.
