Highlights for Netherlands travel restrictions

  • The Dutch government finally removed the entry restrictions for all incoming travelers including non-EU countries on September 19
  • Travelers from non-European Union countries and Schengen area countries are allowed to visit the Netherlands without any restrictions
  • A revised proposal about the entry rules might be issued soon by the EU commission to the member states
  • The Netherlands happens to be the last of three EU countries to relax the COVID-related travel restrictions besides Spain and Luxemburg

A new decision of the Dutch Government

The Dutch government has taken a forward step to discard all the available COVID-related travel restrictions on September 19th, 2022 for all visitors coming to the Netherlands. Which includes non-European Union countries too.

The current rules that have been implied in EU nations were not proportional to that of the Netherlands. Keeping the present epidemiological situation into consideration, the Government of the Netherlands made a decision to lift the entry ban for EU countries.

The removal of restrictions is applied to all travelers that include visitors coming from Schengen area countries and outside EU countries.

Previously, travelers outside the EU and Schengen Area countries were supposed to provide vaccination and the recovery certificate to enter the Netherlands. Provided those certificates were supposed to undergo several criteria which are approved by WHO. And now they are no longer needed.
