New rules for the EB5 Visa of the US from 21st November

New rules for the EB5 Visa of the US will be implemented by the Dept. of Homeland Security from 21^st November 2019.

As per the new rules, the authority to designate areas of high unemployment will be transferred from the respective states to the DHS. Regional centres in the US will now have more supervision. Also, the investment amount for the EB5 Visa will be increased from $ 1million to $1.8 million. For Targeted Employment Areas (TEA), the investment amount will increase from $500,000 to $900,000.

The EB5 Visa of the US is an investor program for immigrants. It is managed by the USCIS and facilitates the flow of foreign investment in the country. It also helps create new employment opportunities for American citizens.

The proposed new rules have created a sense of urgency among many immigrants living in the US. A majority of these immigrants are South Asian and live in the San Francisco Bay Area. These immigrants are tied to their respective employers and are currently facing long wait times on their Green Card applications.

In a bid to expedite their Green Card process, many of these immigrants are now exploring the EB5 Visa. This Visa provides a faster route to the coveted US Green Card. Many of them realize that the right time to apply is now before the investment amount increases, as quoted by Silicon India.
