Diverse and crucial changes to New Zealand Work Visas Post Study for Overseas Students will become effective from 26 November 2018. The Post Study Work Visas assisted by employers in New Zealand will be removed at all levels.
A 1-year Open Work Visa Post Study will be offered to overseas students studying at Level 4-6 qualifications. It will also be available to those at Level 7 Non-degree qualifications. Graduate Diploma graduates working towards registering with a trade or professional body will be offered an additional 1 year.
A 2-year Open Work Visa Post Study will be offered to overseas students studying outside Auckland at Level 4-6 qualifications. It will also be available to those at Level 7 Non-degree qualifications. The study must, however, be completed by 2021 December, as quoted by the Radionz Co NZ.
At this point, it will get converted to a 1-year Open Work Visa Post Study. This is for overseas students studying at Level 4-6 qualification and Level 7 Non-degree qualifications. Graduate Diploma graduates working towards registering with a trade or professional body will be offered an additional 1 year.
A 3-year Open Work Visa Post Study will be offered to overseas students studying at Degree level 7 or higher qualifications.
Overseas students studying at Level 8 qualifications will be required to be in a sector mentioned in the list of Long Term Skills Shortage. This is if their partner has to qualify for an Open Work Visa. It is also required for the dependent children of the partner to qualify for the domestic schooling of free cost.
