Minister of Labour Skills and Immigration, Jill Balser Statement

Nova Scotia is definitely a special place that excites and also one can foresee their future along with their families. Population growth plays a key role in the country’s economic success. We have plans to welcome many people to make Nova Scotia their permanent home after preparing for growth, market standards, working with employers and many settlement organizations.

Recently, 500 Ukrainians have been welcomed through Canada Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET). Currently, these newcomers are counted in the total allocation of newcomers.”

Nova Scotia Immigration Programs

1.       Atlantic immigration program (AIP)

The Atlantic immigration program was introduced in 2017 as an experimental program for the immigrants to get settled in any of the four Atlantic Provinces.

AIP has a proven record level of success and was finally made permanent in January 2022.

This encourages Atlantic Canadian employers to register with the province for official designation; this earns that if the employers hire foreign nationals, they can omit the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

If at all an employee accepts a job offer from an authorized employer, then the employer must have to connect them with a designated settlement service provider. The service provider needs to assess the applicant and any family members for their arrival and create a settlement plan.
