According to VFS Global, Canada visa applicants that had “submitted their Visa application under ‘PR Category – Parents and Grandparents’, can enrol biometrics at Canada Visa Application Centres in India”.
VACs have reopened across India, offering limited services. Initially, 4 VACs had begun scheduling limited biometric appointments from November 20, 2020.
With the latest addition, individuals applying under the following categories can submit their biometrics for Canada visa applications –
The Returning Students and Returning Workers will be required to book an appointment by using their current permit application number – that is, Canadian work permit or study permit for Canada – listed on their new permit document.
The new permit document will have to be uploaded by the Returning Students and Returning Workers in place of the Biometric Instruction Letter [BIL].
Do keep in mind that a prior appointment is mandatory for visiting a VAC for the purposes of enrolling biometrics for Canada visa applications.
Appointments must be booked online.
What are Canada VACs? |
Visa Application Centres or VACs are private companies with formal contracts with the federal government of Canada. VFS Global offers Canada visa application support services through the medium of a network of Canada Visa Application Centres. The global network of Canada VACs, or CVACs, provide increased access as well as enhanced administrative services to Canada visa applicants. This includes the collection of biometrics. CVACs are authorised to accept applications for all temporary visas for Canada – study permit, work permit, and visitor visa. Canada VACs also accept travel documents for Canadian permanent residents. An individual also has the option to go to a VAC that is not in their country of residence. Generally, biometrics have to be provided after applying for a Canadian visa. Express Entry applications are not accepted by VACs. |
