Oman will soon grant Work Visas electronically

The onus of sponsoring a foreign worker to Oman rests solely on the Omani employer. For a foreign worker to work in Oman, the employer must obtain a Work Visa.

The Royal Oman Police has announced that employers will soon be able to obtain Work Visas electronically.

The ROP said that the new online system will save the time of the employers as well as the police officials. Work Visa applicants can now complete the necessary procedures online. They will not have to go for a review to the office of the General Administration of Passports and Residence. Establishments who are registered on the e-visa system would be able to complete the formalities online.

Establishments who are not yet registered with the e-Visa system would need to do so as soon as possible. They will need to visit the nearest office of the General Administration of Passports and Residence to complete the registration process.

The ROP announced that in the first stage, it will grant electronic Work Visas only to commercial establishments. However, commercial establishments who are registered on the e-Visa system would only be eligible, as per The Times of Oman.

 The new online system aims to speed up the processing of Work Visas. It also aims to create an invigorating environment for the business segment with police competence.

Companies and commercial establishments who wish to avail the service can visit the e-Visa website of the Royal Oman Police.
