One million more job vacancies in Canada

Canadian employees are looking for workers and they want to employ foreign nationals to migrate to Canada and work in different positions. The June 2022 report of Payroll Employment, Earnings and Hours, and Job Vacancies provided by Statistics Canada revealed that there is an increase in the number of workers in paid jobs and number of job vacancies.

Job vacancies in June 2022

In June 2022, the number of job vacancies increased by 3.2 percent and the total number of job vacancies was 1037900. The total number of filled and vacant positions went up to 17.7 million. In May 2022, the job vacancies increased by 1.4 percent and total number of filled and vacant positions was 1,526,000.

Job creation in June

A number of jobs have been created in June 2022. The number of jobs created by the service sector is 88,000. The table below will reveal the number of jobs in the service sector:

The public and administration sector is the only service sector where job creation was reduced to 3,900.

In the goods-producing sector, the number of workers added in the construction companies was 7,800 and in mining, quarrying and oil and gas companies, the number of workers hired was 1,900.

Number of vacancies in the healthcare sector

The number of jobs available in the healthcare sector in June 2022 is 43,400 which is higher than in June 2021. Due to the relaxation in the restriction of COVID-19, individuals started to visit Canada and the sector is facing the labor shortage. In June, the number of vacancies in the accommodation and food service sector was 171,700 and year over year the number of positions was 48,000. The details are revealed by Statistics Canada.
