Ontario province in Canada is now seeking extra skilled immigrants in 2019. This is to cater to the increasing demand for skilled workers in the province. At the national level, the immigration intake for 2019 has been set at 330,000 by Canada. This is an increase of around 7% from the target of 2018 at 310,000.
The multi-year immigration levels plan was unveiled by the federal government at the end of 2018 October. This aims to enhance the target of total admissions to Canada through its diverse economic, refugee, and family programs. The increase is projected to be 13% during 2018 and 2021. It will increase to 350,000 from 310,000.
Immigration is the key propellant of the growth of labor force and population in Canada. Several provinces in Canada are actively working to attract extra skilled immigrants. This is for addressing the increasing demand for workers, as quoted by the CIC News.
It has now been confirmed by Ontario that it is expecting to enhance its Canada PR allocation to 7,600. This represents an increase of 1000 over its allocation of 6,600 in 2018. It also represents an increase of 26.7% over its initial allocation of 6,000 in 2017.
The intake of PR immigrants through Provincial Nominee Programs reached 49, 724 in 2017. For 2018 the target was increased to 55,000. It is projected that the PNP target will increase again to 61,000 in 2019.
