Ontario tops! Creates maximum new jobs in August

Ontario As per Statistics Canada, there has been a significant increase in employment in Canada in August due to an increase in part-time work. According to the StatsCan Labour Fore Survey, 5 provinces saw an increase in employment gains while the rest remained steady. Ontario Ontario topped the list by creating the maximum number of new jobs in Canada in August. 58,000 new jobs were created by Ontario alone in August. There was a 3.5% increase in employment in comparison to August 2018 with employment standing at 250,000. Quebec Quebec’s employment gains rose for the second time consecutively as it added 20,000 new jobs in August. Most of these new jobs were created in the real estate, insurance, finance, rental and leasing industries. Quebec had the lowest unemployment rate in Canada in August at 4.7%. In comparison to August last year, employment increased by 2.6% or 112,000 new jobs. Manitoba Manitoba created 5,200 new jobs in August. As per Statistics Canada, this was Manitoba’s first significant increase in 2019. The technical, professionals and scientific services sector of the province had the maximum employment gains in the province. Employment gains were up by 5.5% in August as compared to July. The unemployment rate in Manitoba remained steady at 5.6%. Saskatchewan Saskatchewan created 2,800 new jobs in August which brought the unemployment rate down to 5.1%. In comparison to August 2018, there were 18,000 new jobs in August this year signifying an increase of 2.2%. Most employment gains happened in industries in the service-producing segment, as per CIC News. New Brunswick New Brunswick had 2,300 more jobs in August as compared to July 2019. The unemployment rate in the province stood at 8.6%. There was an increase of 9% in the recreation, culture and information industry in the last one month. Overall, the province recorded a 22% increase in the employment gains in the last 12 months. Which industries in Canada created the most number of new jobs? The scientific, professionals and technical services industry created 109,000 new jobs in August this year as compared to August 2018. This signifies an increase of 7% in employment gains. The real estate, insurance, finance, rental and leasing industry saw 22,000 new jobs in August 2019 which was a 3.9% increase as compared to last year. These industries saw the maximum growth in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The educational services industry also grew by 2.6%, mostly in Quebec. 35,000 new jobs were added this year in comparison to 2018.
