Good news! For the Ontario graduates. The province offers its graduate students to register for receiving a provincial nomination through two more immigration programs.
It recently included the Master's Graduate and Ph.D. Graduate streams to Ontario’s New Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The other three programs in the EOI system comprises:
Graduate candidates can register for Ontario immigration. The EOI system ranks candidates' profiles based on the scoring matrix. The applicants get points for education, work experience, and intended destination in Ontario compared to other factors.
The purpose of ranking candidates by giving points is to identify the required skill set that meets Ontario's market demand.
The candidate should note that registering with the EOI system doesn't guarantee to receive the invitation to apply for provincial nomination.
The profiles are valid for 12 months in Ontario’s EOI pool because the OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) might contact the applicants at any time to apply for the provincial nomination.
Is it applicable for future Ontario immigrants?
If the candidate is willing to apply through Ontario’s base Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), they can register an EOI profile at any time. But earlier, the registrations are allowed only when the OINP opens its online portal.
After getting registered, the candidate profile will be entered into the selection pool and will allot a score based on the answers by the candidates. Then the Canadian province Ontario will invite the candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
Remember that an EOI registration will not guarantee that the applicant will receive an invitation to apply. The OINP will notify the candidate upon receiving the invitation.
Once the candidate is registered under EOI, the application will be valid for 12 months or few times until the candidate receives an invitation. The candidate can withdraw the registration under any circumstances. After 12 months, the EOI profile will be deleted automatically.
Registration in EOI is free, but if the candidate is invited to apply, the candidate needs to pay the fees along with the application. The candidate should note that receiving an application does not mean that the candidate will get the provincial nomination. They need to meet all the eligibility criteria of the stream for which the candidate is willing to apply.
Procedure to register an Expression of Interest
Step 1: Create a profile in the OINP e-Filing Portal
Step 2: Go through the requirements of the interested stream
Step 3: Ensure the eligibility
Step 4: Now register an EOI profile
Step 5: Next, register an expression of interest for one or more streams
The information provided (during the registration) must be accurate. The candidate is allowed to update the profile information at any time to keep the information updated.
