Ontario invites 26 entrepreneurs, EOI score 132 and above

On April 22, Ontario held a draw under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program [OINP]. In this latest draw, the OINP sent out 26 invitations to candidates under the Entrepreneur Stream. Invitations to Apply [ITAs] were issued to candidates that had an Expression of Interest [EOI] score between 132 and 200. 

EOIs considered in the round of invitations had been received and allotted a score between November 22, 2019 and April 17, 2020. 

For the Entrepreneur Stream of the OINP, creation of an EOI is the first step of the process. An EOI is not an application. No fee is involved for registering an EOI with the OINP. 

Under the OINP’s Entrepreneur Stream, there are 2 components of the EOI with a maximum score of 200 points. Of these 200, points are allotted as per – 

Self-Declared Score	126
Business Concept Score	74

Assessment as well as scoring of the Business Concept component of the EOI score will be done by the OINP. At least 50% – that is, 37 of the available 74 – have to be scored for being placed in the EOI selection pool. 

The probability of an invitation to apply being sent by the OINP depends on the EOI score. Once in the selection pool, the profiles are ranked against each other based on their EOI score. It is the top-ranked candidates that are invited to apply. 

To register an EOI for the Entrepreneur Stream of the OINP – 

STEP 1: Contact the OINP by email for expressing your interest in applying along with requesting for an EOI registration form.

STEP 2: Once received, completion of the EOI registration form.

STEP 3: Submission of the completed form by email.

Following the above steps, assessment and scoring of the candidate’s business concept is done by the OINP. If the minimum stream criteria is not met, the Business Concept is not reviewed. 

Successful registration of an EOI will be confirmed through an email sent to the candidate by the OINP. This email will contain the total EOI score out of the maximum of 200 that has been scored by the candidate.
