A two-year validated pilot program i.e., OINP Regional Immigration Pilot is been launched in 2020, in order to support the employers in three communities that are outside the Greater Toronto Area and to bring skilled labor to address the current labor shortages.
Based on the reports, this pilot program has been a huge success with 226 nominations despite the program's release during the pandemic. The OINP will be processing the remaining application and is estimated to reach 300 nominations for the two-year pilot.
Apart from this program also exceeded the 5% target for immigrating to francophone, by issuing 5.3% or 480 nominations to foreign individuals with high proficiency in the French language. Most of these nominations were either under the French-speaking skilled worker stream or the Human Capital Priorities stream.
