Ontario PNP draw invited 479 Masters and PhD grads for the first time

On August 18, 2021, Ontario held its first draw for the Master's Graduate and PhD Graduate streams, just two weeks after the two provincial draws.

The OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program) has invited 479 international student graduates to apply for a provincial nomination. While for the Master's Graduate stream, OINP invited 402 international students. For PhD graduate stream, it invited 77 candidates having an EOI score of 17 and above.

The invited candidates need Expression of Interest (EOI) scores of at least 39 to receive the ITS (Invitation to Apply).

Master's Graduate and PhD Graduate streams in OINP

Ontario’s EOI system is operated by the Provincial Nominee Programs. The international students need to sign-up in Ontario’s e-Filing Portal then register an expression of interest to get considered for the Master's Graduate or PhD Graduate streams.

If the student is eligible, then they will receive an invitation to apply for the provincial nomination program. The international students need to apply for the nomination within two years of graduation.

You do not need a job offer to apply for these streams.

Points allotment in Ontario immigration

Ontario ranks the EOI profiles depending upon the various human capital factors, which the province considers necessary in selecting immigrants. The candidates will be allotted points based on the skill level of the job offer along with Canadian work experience.

Comparatively, the OINP scoring system differs based on the stream the candidate wishes to apply. The other thing which OINP considers is

• Wages
• Educational qualification
• Official language ability
• The Region in which you study or work

The candidates applying for OINP should make a note that the province will allot 10 points extra if the candidate meets the labor market needs.
