Ontario held its first provincial draw of 2021 on January 13, 2021. Total 484 invitations, referred to as Notifications of Interest or NOIs, were issued to Canada immigration hopefuls through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program [OINP].
Invitations issued in the latest OINP draw went to Express Entry candidates under the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream and the Skilled Trades Stream. Candidates for the OINP’s Human Capital Priorities stream were not included in the draw.
Ontario is a part of the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. The OINP regularly searches the federal Express Entry pool to find candidates that might meet the criteria for any of the Express Entry-aligned PNP streams of Ontario.
The OINP issues PNP invitations under 3 separate categories. Human Capital Priorities Stream: For foreign workers that have the required education, skilled work experience, and language abilities for applying to live and work in Ontario permanently. French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream: Provides French-speaking skilled workers that also possess strong English language abilities, an opportunity for applying to live and work in Ontario permanently. Skilled Trades Stream: Gives foreign nationals that have Ontario work experience – in any of the eligible skilled trades – an opportunity to apply for living as well as working permanently within Ontario. |
Express Entry candidates shortlisted by the OINP are issued an NOI in their Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] online account.
Such candidates might then proceed to submitting their online application – within 45 calendar days – to the OINP.
An Express Entry candidate that is successful in securing a nomination through any of the Express Entry-aligned PNP streams will be allotted 600 additional points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score.
Hence, a provincial nominee is guaranteed an invitation by IRCC in the next Express Entry draw to be held.
