Prince Edward Island’s Office of Immigration has recently released the details of the latest PEI PNP draw.
The previous PEI PNP draw was held on September 17, 2020.
The minimum score requirement for the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Invitations was 97. No minimum score was specified for the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories.
Generally, the specific number of invitations issued to each of the categories of Labour Impact and Express Entry are not disclosed.
PEI PNP Categories | |
[1] Express Entry | Aligned with the federal Express Entry system managing the 3 main economic immigration programs of Canada –
|
[2] Labour Impact | 3 streams come under the category of Labour Impact –
|
[3] Business Impact | The Work Permit Stream is for individuals intending to come to PEI on a work permit, operating a business within PEI for a minimum of 1 year before they can apply for Canada PR. |
Prince Edward Island of Canada is a part of the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP]. With almost 80 Canadian immigration pathways, PNP continues to be a much sought-after route to Canada PR.
A provincial nomination is also the recommended course of action wherein the applicant has a low ranking in the Express Entry profile. While the creation of an Express Entry profile is quite a simple and straightforward process, not all that enter the pool receive an invitation from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] to apply for permanent residence.
Applying for Canada PR is by invitation only. It is those Express Entry candidates that have received an Invitation to Apply [ITA] from IRCC that can apply for Canada PR. Now, in order to be invited, an Express Entry candidate must be among the highest-ranked in the pool of candidates. Profiles in the Express Entry pool are ranked against one other based on a score allotted as per the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS].
The CRS, out of a total of 1,200, is different from the 67-points’ eligibility for Canada Express Entry.
A nomination through the PNP – fetching an extra 600 CRS points – is a way of ensuring that an ITA is issued by IRCC in the subsequent federal draw held by the Canadian government.
In 2020, PEI PNP has issued a total of 1,506 invitations in 16 draws that have been held so far.
