Post-graduation work permit

A post-graduation work permit is granted to foreign students who have completed their studies in Canada. Post-graduation work permit holders can work anywhere in Canada for any employer. They can work for as many hours as they like in Canada. The time period of your PGWP depends on the duration of your study program or the expiry date of your passport.

How long does it take to get a PGWP?

Applicants are allowed to work in Canada while awaiting the processing of their PGWP, but they should have submitted their application before their study permit expires. You have 180 days within which you must apply for your PGWP from the time you finish your study program. You can now apply for a Post-graduation work permit from abroad if you leave Canada after completing your education.
