Canada's Prince Edward Island [PEI] has released the details of the latest draw to be held by the province under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada.
The PEI PNP draw was held as per the PEI PNP draw schedule for 2021.
In the latest monthly provincial draw by PEI, a total of 156 Canada immigration hopefuls have received invitations in the PEI PNP draw held on April 15, 2021.
Those invited can now proceed to applying to the PEI PNP for their nomination by the province for Canada PR.
Of the invitations issued by the Prince Edward Island in the latest provincial draw, a majority – that is, 140 – were for candidates under the PEI PNP categories of Labour Impact and Express Entry.
Another 16 were Business Work Permit and Entrepreneur invitations.

Note. The minimum points threshold for business invitations was that of 75 points. The minimum points threshold for Labour and Express Entry candidates is usually not disclosed by the PEI PNP.
PEI is one of the 9 provinces and 2 territories that are a part of the PNP of Canada. The province of Quebec and the territory of Nunavut are not a part of the PNP.
Quebec has its own immigration program. Nunavut, on the other hand, does not have any immigration program for the induction of newcomers into the territory.

The Office of Immigration, in partnership with the federal government of Canada, administers the PEI PNP.
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact category is for foreign nationals with a valid job offer and support from a PEI employer. The Express Entry category of the PEI PNP is linked with the federal Express Entry system.
The PEI PNP Business Impact category is targeted at foreign nationals interested in owning and operating a business in PEI.
PEI PNP selects candidates through a points-based Expression of Interest [EOI] system that assesses potential candidates before issuing invitations to apply.
The highest-ranked, as per the EOI score, are invited in the PEI PNP draws that are generally held on a monthly basis.
Candidates with the greatest potential of economically establishing themselves in the province are prioritized by the PEI PNP. As per PEI PNP, “Priority will be given to applicants living and working in PEI”.
To be eligible for the PEI PNP Express Entry category, a candidate must already be registered in the federal Express Entry system.
Now, for registering in the federal Express Entry system – managed through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] – the candidate must successfully meet the requirements of at least 1 of the federal economic immigration programs.

Each of the Express Entry programs has its own specific requirements.
There are 2 Canadian permanent residence pathways – depending on whether or not a candidate has a job offer in PEI – available under the PEI Express Entry category.
An Express Entry candidate that is successful in securing a PNP nomination is allotted an additional 600 CRS points, thereby boosting their ranking in the Express Entry pool. Consequently, ensuring an ITA by IRCC in the next federal draw to be held.
By CRS is implied the Comprehensive Raking System that is used for ranking Express Entry profiles against one another while in the IRCC pool of Canada immigration candidates.
On March 18, 2021, provincial population estimates for the fourth quarter of 2020 were published by Statistics Canada. The data by Statistics Canada reveals that the population of Prince Edward Island was estimated to be 159,819 [as on January 1, 2021], representing a yearly increase of 1,190 individuals or a 0.8% annual growth rate. This is the 3rd highest year-over-year growth rate among the Canadian provinces and territories, behind Nunavut [at 1.8%], Yukon [at 1.1%], and equivalent to that of Alberta [at 0.8%]. Canada, as a whole, registered a growth rate of 0.4%. |

With the latest draw, PEI has issued 638 invitations in the 4 draws held so far in 2021.
