Prince Edward Island, often referred to as PEI or even simply as “The Island”, is the smallest province in Canada. PEI has held its latest draw under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP], in keeping with the PEI PNP draw schedule for 2021.
On May 20, 2021, Prince Edward Island PNP issued a total of 155 invitations to Canada immigration candidates to apply for a PEI PNP nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
An Overview of the PEI PNP May 20, 2021 draw [Total invitations: 155] | |
Category / Type of invitations | Invitations issued |
Labour & Express Entry Invitations | 138 |
Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Invitations | 17 [minimum score required – 80] |
Of these, 138 invitations went out to candidates under the categories of PEI Express Entry and Labour Impact. The other 17 were Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Invitations. The minimum score requirement is generally not mentioned by the PEI PNP for invitations under PEI Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. The minimum score requirement, however, for Business Impact candidates in the May 20 PEI PNP draw was that of 80. PEI Express Entry is aligned with the federal Express Entry system of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC].
A nomination through the PEI PNP increases the chances of a federal Express Entry candidate being issued an Invitation to apply [ITA] by IRCC.
To be considered for a PEI Express Entry nomination, an individual must have an IRCC Express Entry profile and meet the specific requirements for any 1 of the Express Entry programs – the Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], the Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP], or the Canadian Experience Class [CEC].

The PEI PNP holds monthly draws as per a pre-decided draw schedule. The next PEI PNP draw is to be held on June 17. With the latest draw, PEI has issued 793 invitations in the 5 draws held so far in 2021.
