Record shortage of Tier 2 UK visas sponsorship certificates in December 2017

December 2017 has witnessed record shortage of Tier 2 UK visas sponsorship certificates. The last instance wherein Tier 2 sponsorship license employers struggled to get Tier 2 UK visas was several years ago. Based on the allocation for December 2017, it will be possible in many cases to hire overseas nationals with specific salary rate. This is a minimum of 55, 000 pounds annually.

The allocation meeting for Tier 2 UK visas for December revealed the number of limited Tier 2 UK visas sponsorship certificates. 1, 512 certificates are available. This is the lowest figure for 2017 as per the statistics of the UK Visas and Immigration, as quoted by the Workpermit.

It was several years ago that there was such a huge shortage of Tier 2 UK visas sponsorship certificates. It was required to gain 55 points through the system for points for limited sponsorship certificates. Generally, only 21 points are required. Tier 2 UK visas have a separate system for points and this is different from the system of points for limited Tier 2 sponsorship certificates.

The test for resident labor market offers 20 points to the applicant of the visa. This leaves with 35 extra points to be gained to obtain 55 points for the Tier 2 UK visas. It will require a salary of minimum 55 pounds annually.

Applicants of Tier 2 UK visas who are on the list of shortage occupations or occupations at the Doctoral level will incur higher points. They will obtain adequate points for qualifying for the visa even if the annual salary is much lower than 55,000 pounds.

Overseas workers and employers are eagerly awaiting the results for January 2018 allocation. They expect that the scarcity of sponsorship certificates will not be this low then.
